Has anyone here had Colon/Rectal surgery? I'm interested in knowing if it worked for IBS-C. My dr. is recommending it and i am seriously considering it.

This is major surgery. I would get a second opinion from one or more GI docs before making a decision

Okay, I was just afraid you might have lost your original post.
I have to tell you - I'll be very surprised if you find anyone who has had part of his or her intestines removed because of IBS and/or a wheat allergy. But I've been wrong before...

IBS does not require removal of anything in your body. It is not normal. Get other opinions from different doctors and specialists.
You didn't answer my question from the other post. How long have you been on Heather's diet?

I've been on Heather's diet since January/07. I also am lactose intolerant and wheat/yeast intolerant, so alot of it I can't eat. I have been to three specialist and the Internist was the one that recommended the operation. Apparently the pain is not as bad????

You haven't been on the diet nearly long enough for it to really make a difference. You should give it about 9 to 12 months at least before giving up. There are many options on Heather's diet that does not contain wheat or yeast. You also need to incorporate IF into your diet to get things moving, the SF is just a cushions so you can eat more IF.

Here's Heather's Cheat Sheet to help you out a bit. They aren't the only options to eat, but it's a start.

Ty for your help Gracie. The If really seems to make my stomache worse. I have started using the Natural Calm which is helping with the C and also using a product called GasStop. It seems to be helping too. Most days I live on rice crackers, chicken and rice. I've also stopped the Zelnorm. I don't think it helped at all. Thank you
