Hi, just wondering if there is any kind of butter/margarine that is acceptable to use once in a while with the IBS diet?
Thanks for the help

There are dairy free substitutes like Becel with the red lid, Fleishmans, and I think Smart Balance or Light Balance that can be used in the EFI diet.

i use a off name brand margarine called nucoa it has no dairy what's so ever, its first ingredient is liquid soybean oil...it has 440 mg/serving of omega-3 and it is very cheap to boot...about 1.20 for four sticks. it taste really great, my sister says it taste like butter but better, and it bakes wonderfully. i use it daily btw, on everything almost (j/k )
hope u can find it and it works for you

This is SO weird because I have a Nucoa cookbook from 1935 (about when it was introduced)! I collect older cookbooks and had no idea that this was a product-specific one. I've never seen nucoa, so... (I'm bookmooching it, so if you're interested in having it, let me know!)

I use Earth Balance because I think it tastes a little more buttery than most margarines. I can use it on bread and not flinch at the taste. It's a little more expensive, but that reminds me not to use too much.

I use Soy Garden for cooking/baking because it melts perfectly. It doeasn't spread very well, though, because it is harder like butter.

I use Spectrum Spread for things like buttering toast. It doesn't melt very well, but it's softer like margarine.
