I have just recently starting drinking/eating soy milk and made an interesting discovery. I tolerated the soy milk when I ate soy yogurt after it but didn't do as well when I wasn't eating the soy yogurt. I followed through with this and started eating soy yogurt every time I drank/ate the soy milk, sure enough the problem was resolved. The only thing I can think to attribute this to is the probiotics in the soy yogurt. Could this be? If so could I just take a probiotic when I drank the soy milk instead? Eating yogurt after everytime I would like the milk is really filling! Also, I always take Beano before any soy product, is it ok to take a probiotic with the beano?
Thanks for the help.

I don't know for certain but I don't see why it would be a problem.

I just wasn't sure if the enzyme would effect the probiotic. Thanks for the help.

to my knowledge enzymes will breakdown the probiotic making it not so useful, you take one before you eat and one after to space it out.

thats a pretty strange situation with the soymilk and the soy yogurts. go to a health food store and ask for a really good (vegetarian) probiotic and see what they recommend. ask what they have to say about combing it with OTC meds and ask about effectivness. they may even have another alternative to beano that wont take away the effectiveness of the probiotic.
do you take acacia? i think acacia is intended to work its best when it is used with a probiotic since acacia is a prebiotic. but nonetheless, probiotics are really good for the digest.track or so ive heard. i keep meaning to get a really good one, but they are always too expensive when i decide to venture out for them.
do continue drinking the soy, b/c it is really good for you. make sure tho that you dont have an intolerant for soy. do you eat other soy-based foods like imitation cheeses, spreads, etc? perhaps experiment and see what works best for your body. also, what brand of soymilk do you drink? some brands may cause upset, especially if you change quickly from drinking regular milk to soy. your reaction may be a typical one until your body gets situated.
hope that helps a bit. for everyone it is different. i hope you find a pattern that works for you!
