I take 3 tsp of Acacia a day. When I went higher I tended to get gassy. I've done acupuncture, but my medical coverage will only pay for two more visits. It certainly helped with sleep, and proably for the IBS too, but that's when I was taking Immodium daily.

There's also hyoscyamine. Here's a link. It works well for some people. A lot of people have success with meditation and yoga, as well.

If you're still having straining and urgency, it would be better to stay on the Immodium, rather than cut it out altogether. And stay away from salads for a while.

It says on the bottle to take it after meals, but that never made sense to me, if its to help digest shouldn't it be taken BEFORE you eat? Just to be safe I take it before and after, and I never get problems. I guess I'm just too scared to try taking it only after eating. I do not use Beano, I had never heard of it until I started reading this board, and I'm still not quite sure what it is, and where to get it. I just bought Fibercon yesterday and I was shocked to see how expensive it is, but maybe that's just me.
