Eating out with IBS (Pizza Hut fans, take note!)

When dining out, I usually stick to something from the lowfat menu section, or find ways to limit fat content in other meals (asking that salad dressings be held to the side, no butter, sour cream, etc).

Well, we went to Pizza Hut last nite, where the family usually gets pizza and I get the salad bar.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Pizza Hut now offers a "Fit and Healthy" menu...pizza with much less cheese, healthier toppings (grilled chicken, veggies, etc), and less crust (thin and crispy instead of the high fat pan pizza crust.)

Txs, this is great to know b/c I'm sure tired of turkey sandwiches from Subway or veggie burgers for lunch every day. I wonder if some other fast food places are moving to having a low fat, dairy free menu? Sure would be great!

Hey all ! One of my friends was on weight watchers and she told me to check this site to get fiber and fat info from food in restaurants. Not every item is listed for each restaurant, and it doesn't break down the fiber into soluable and insoluable, but it gives you an idea about which items you definitely don't want to try (not like you probably couldn't figure it out for yourself :P). There are also weight watchers points on the site-- but most of us probably don't care about that. Anyways-- Hope this helps

I ate out last night at an Italian restaurant (ASK - a UK chain) and had a Vegetariana pizza without the cheese. They were really helpful about this, checked that I wanted NO cheese and the pizza was delicious! I'll definitely be doing that again.

There is a type of pizza mde in Italian neighborhoods, called tomato pie (?) It is pizza, but without cheese! Unfortunately they often put lots of olive oil on it, but you can make it at home: make a pizza crust, put tomato sauce/pizza sauce, garlic, seasongings, and some LIGHTLY fried scallions. Then bake!

This weekend, I saw a frozen pizza that had veggies, but no cheese("Amy's" brand, which also makes other frozen vegetarian foods). I haven't tried it yet, but it looks pretty good on the box!
