I was told by several people that certain calcium cupplements are constipating. With no dairy in my diet and much less broccoli(which had the most), I need a supplement. Which ones are the irritants and which are the constipating ones. I think we are suppose to stay away from magnesiums added to them.
Calcium Carbonate
Calcium Citrate
Coral Calcium
Calcium Phosphate
???? Thanks. Any info of experience would be great.

See this post: calcium for IBS-D

Basically, calcium carbonate is good for IBS-D.

Thanks. I think I will go out and buy it. I hope I can cut them in 1/2. I want to start slowly.

Based on the thread that K2 referred you to and Sand's info., I started taking Caltrate 600 a few weeks ago ( I do think it's helping with the d...either that or I'm getting more stable ) and I am only taking one/day so far instead of the recommended two/day. (with a meal) You might want to give it a try...make sure it's one that is recommended in the thread for d.

I've been using "Caltrate Plus" with excellent success for over a month now. I highly recommend it. I LOVE the fact that I can easily break the pills in half--it makes them so much easier to swallow. "Caltrate Plus" has not given me D attacks and goes down very easily. There is no lactose whatsoever in the pills. Also, the pills include vitamin D, as well as certain minerals which aid in calcium absorption.
Moreover, it is very reasonably priced. Trust me--take the Caltrate and skip the broccoli. Osteoporosis (and I have it at age 32) is hardly fun.

Kate, IBB-D.
