Any recommendations on quick, safe meals/snacks to bring to work for lunch for IBS-A? Veggie burgers? Snack bars? Fruit?Brands? I'm trying so hard to eat healthy, but as you all know, when its bad...its really bad. Help

Some meal ideas: - pita and hummus with a half a baked sweet or regular potato or some baked squash. (Cook the potato/squash the night before in your microwave and just reheat at work)
- bagel with soy cream cheese and lox, or hummus, or a nut butter
For snacks, I usually do well with - small cups of applesauce
- Luna bars
- pretzels
- baked chips and salsa
- carrot sticks

My fallback "safe" lunch, even before I started the diet, was a plain turkey on bread sandwich (with mustard, if I felt up to it), and pretzels. Applesauce is awesome, too. I eat bread for quick snacks pretty often.

You could also get some safe deli meat to make a sandwich. I have had a little trouble with the regular lunch meat... nothing terrible, just kinda left me unsettled. I have found a few varieties in the deli that work for me (look for the simplest ingredients like chicken and salt or something like that... no nitrites or other preservatives). Boars Head is good, and the HFS also has some varieties to choose from.
Also, you could make a batch of vegetable soup and heat it up at work. You could make it with chicken, too, if you prefer to have meat in it.
My favorite burgers are GardenBurger flame grilled soy burgers. I prefer them cooked on the stovetop, but they can be cooked in the microwave, too.

When I'm in the middle of an episode, I don't eat and let my system heal itself. I fast often, so this isn't hard for me - and it's the only way to get my system quickly back on track. When my gut is having one of its hissy-fits, it doesn't matter how "safe" a food is, it's going to make me miserable...
