I don't know if I've got a stomach bug or if the ugly IBS-d rearing again....can I use the BRAT diet? It seems anything I eat doesn't help....I've tried the peppermint oil in the past for my IBS with no help (I wax and wane between IBS-D & IBS-c).

How can I tell the difference? I can't get a Dr. appt til next week---any advice you can share would be most helpful...
TIA

BRAT = bananas, rice, applesauce, toast?

Assuming the rice and toast are white, and there's no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners in the applesauce, they won't aggravate IBS (if that is what's causing the problem).

Here's a link to Heather's "What to Eat when You Can't Eat Anything" info, which may also help:

With the caveat that BRAT and WTEWYCEA aren't intended for long-term use.

How long have you had IBS?

I've had IBS since 1997 following the onset of IC (interstitial cystitis)...I initally lost 40 lbs in 2 months

I've since gained weight back but it seems that its becoming violent once more. ::::sigh:::
It freaks me out that everything I've tried may/has made it worse...I miss food...
I've been sustaining myself on English muffins, white bread.
As twisted as it sounds: I hope its a bug and not becoming progressively worse.
