Are they safe for daily use? Do any of you use it? If so, can you please share your experience with me?
Help, info and advice always appreciated.

Blessings,
Abi

Colace® (docusate), a surface-active agent, helps to keep stools soft for easy, natural passage and is not a stimulant laxative, thus, not habit forming.

They work fine. I have used them from time to time. For more information see

Thank You Syl,

I bought a Publix brand stool softener "Docusate Sodium 100mg". Is that the same as Colace? I hope so...
You said that you use it from time to time, how come you don't take it daily? The box says to take one daily, for prophylactic effect. How many do you take? When is the best time of the day or night to take? Should I take it on an empty stomach? How long before I see results if I start taking it today? The box says to take 1 or 2 daily for 1 to 3 days. Is that what you do? Any side effects?

Sorry for all the questions, hope you don't mind. Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate your help and info.

Blessings,
Abi

My GI doc told me to take colase and I too get the off brand to save money. I take it at night, when I take my fiber before bed. I have taken it for a few years now. I stopped taking it at one time and got very constipated. So, it is now one of my routines to stay stable. I take it at night and usually have a BM the next morning. Hope that helps.

When I have taken colace it only worked if I had a hard time passing the bm like if it was stuck not to help me in "going". Everyone is different though.

Abigal:
I take two a day and they help. I alternate between the C and D and will lay off when I get D. I still get constipated sometimes but I keep taking them and they eventually work and I do not feel like I am being torn in two to use the bathroom
