What does anyone take for sinus attack. I have tried Dristan it is not taking effect. I am having congestion, runny nose and I woke up this morning with my sinus's swollen it looked like I had two black eyes. I blow my nose but nothing... any suggestions. My daughter had some Advil sinus med. but it says not to take if you are taking a ASA medication. Thanks. Sue

I get frequent sinus infections too and I try to follow what I did when I was pregnant and could not take any real meds...drink lots of water to "drain" the mucus along with Mucinex tablets (otc) or Robitusin (green one...just Guafinesin in it...a mucus thinner). Then of course the usual...hot showers to open up your sinuses, nose spray (saline) to keep them from getting dry and washing out allergens, and good 'ol chicken soup if it is IBS friendly. Feel better:)

Before my Dr put me on Allegra I always took Sudafed for my sinus problems, I think it worked better than all the other stuff. The Allegra actually works really well for my allergies & sinus issues, so I haven't needed any OTC sinus meds recently. Hope you feel better!

Thanks girls for the advice..I didn't have allergies until a couple of years ago. Since then in the Fall I start with the sinus problem. So maybe hayfever or what ever there is floating around affects my sinus'. Maybe I should pick up some Allegra. I've tried Reactine (husbands brand) and got a little dizzy! Or maybe try the sudafed again. think i tried that one last year...but thinking it made me drowsy. I do the steaming water in a bowl, with my head under a towel. This helps sometmes. Thanks again. Sue

I get really bad sinus headaches, almost to the migrain stage. I have found that Excedrin Sinus/Headache helps a lot and it doesn't contain asprin. Hope this helps..

My pharmacist recommended Tylenol Severe Congestion Sinus and it seems to work decently. It has acetompehin (sp), a decongestant and something else. But it is safe to take with my Pamine Forte while my Allegra is not.

I went to a sinus specialist (who also happens to be a friend), that's the best kind of doctor. On a daily basis I take sudafed and mucinex. Also, ask your doctor for astelin. I have major improvement. Hope u do too!

With so many side effects of drugs these days, have you thought of something natural, such as "Simply Saline"? I'm not sure what your exact problem is though. Also, I heard an oil of oregano spray (health food store) can get rid of fungus, which may be a cause for your sinus problem. Again, not diagnosing your symptoms. Just offering advice I heard worked for others.

I've had loads of sinus problems....so much so that I had sinus surgery 2 years ago. Things are better but not perfect. I use the saline stuff everyday once it gets going because it helps to clean out the gunk. Mucinex is good if it gets into your chest and you need it broken up. With Excedrin, I used to love the stuff but no longer can tolerate it because of the caffeine. Hope you feel better soon. Mine are bothering me now, too.

It must be the fall season that is making my sinus' act up. I am going to give the saline solution a try as well as Tylenol sinus. Thanks for your input. I never had sinus problems,or aches until I started with ibs/colitis. Could also be an age thing, or just the particles and stuff in the world. Also my Dad was prone to sinus infections so maybe hereditary. Take care of your sinus'. Sue

Hi Kim; maybe I will check out Simply Saline. Do you buy this at the Pharmacy? I went to the Dr. a couple of years ago and he called Rhinitis, and gave my nasal spray. Don't remember the name of it though;it seemed to work. I would rather something natural as there is enough meds in my system. So i will definitely check it out.My symptoms are pain in the front, between my eyes and swollen nasal, with congestion with runny nose. So it could possisbly be allergies. Thanks Sue

I have allergies all year long. I take Clariton, and nasarel. I also use a saline spray before the nasarel, to clean out anything. I also use munix if I get real congested. I can not take sudafed as it makes my heart race.
I recently had a sinus infection and I didn't want to go on antibotics, because of my IBS-D. It took a couple of weeks, but I fought it off. I did saline rinses morning and night with warm water and baking soda. I used a nose bulb(in the baby department), and squirted the warm water into my sinus cavaties,(head bent forward), and then gently blew my nose. It worked.
I have constant riniuitis, so I dealing with sinus issues all the time.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for answering Karen. Does the baking soda/warm water not give you a burning feeling? does it not run down your throat? Or do you have your head leaning way forward? Guess I'm afraid of chocking! Guess I will give it a try. I did try a claritin today, and felt a little better, but am going to pick up something on Friday for my sinus'. Doesn't having Rhinitis suck! Thanks again. Take care. Sue
