So happy for you! I think sugar is pretty easy digest. I am not sure about skittles, though... I thought they had a fair amount of oil in them? But, I am glad you are doing well!

I sometimes eat veggie bears, hot tamales, red hots, and mike and ikes very easy to tolerate. Yummm, candy! Dairy free chocolates are also easy on my tummy and GI tract.

they are ONLY one of the best candies ever! <wink, grins>. they are sold in the bulk candy section at Whole Foods... they are all natural... made with fruit juices and sprikled with granulated sugar. they look like gummy bears, but the consistency of the veggie bears is MUCH better. when i get sick, i live on these! )

I like Skittles too - they seem to be okay, tho I have to be careful not to eat TOO many as I so rarely get candy, I feel sick!

I told Shanna about the No-Pudge brownies (the best FF brownie mix IMO - see www.nopudge.com), and this is what she came up with: web page

lol... Mags recommended the No Pudge brownies (dairy free); I tried them and loved them. I mixed in 1/2 c tropical source mini chocolate chips and recommended it w/ a rice or soy icecream on top...

That's so cool! Btw, do you pronounce your name like Shayna or is your name Shoshana and Shanna is a nickname...or none of the above I'm really into names, so I hope you don't mind my asking...

My English name is Rachel, Ruchie is a nickname, and my Hebrew name is Shayna...long story here!

Thanks for the response...I'll have to check out those bears soon!

I like your Hebrew name! It is quite fitting. I know what it means in Yiddish (beautiful or pretty)... I assume it means the same in Hebrew?

My real name is Shanna. I don't have a Hebrew name, however I think my parents had "shanah" in mind when they named me...

When did your family come to America, and where were they from? Jewish people usually have very interesting stories about this...

My grandfather, Julius, came over from Vienna, Austria in the early 1900's. He opened up Koenigsdorf's grocery store in Kansas City; my grandfather opened up the Koenigsdorf law firm. Unfortunately, we have no record of what happened to the parts of our family who remained in Germany, Austria, and Czecholslavakia (through WW2), though we know what happened to them.

One of the focuses of my (history) major is holocaust history. What did you major in?

Yes, Shayna means pretty in Yiddush...it also means sleep in Hebrew! LOL I was given Shayna as a Yiddush name...but my fam says it's my Hebrwe name too...

I majored in writing and literature in college and I am now an Orthodox Jew (didn't even grow up in a Kosher home!) I'm so sorry your fam. was lost in the Chorbon...the Holocaust! My fam came over from Russia and Poland just in time!

I LOVE your name! Shanna is beautiful...and it is either a derrivative or Shayna (beautiful) or Shoshana (rose)! Either way...those names suit you as well!!!!!!!!

How did you get into history? Was it b/c of your fam and WWII? Do you know any of your granparents at all....or other ancestors?

It's great to have you on the board...I'm quite impressed with all the great info. you have to share!

*hugs*

Hey Everyone,

There is no wheat flour in Hot Tamales... just lots of other stuff that is crappy (no pun intended) for your body. Just for your own info...here are the official ingredients. :>)

HOT TAMALES INGREDIENTS: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Modified Food Starch, Contains Less Than 0.5% Of The Following Ingredients: sodium citrate, pectin, citric acid, corn protein glaze, artificial flavors, artificial color, red #3, red #40, yellow #5, yellow #6, blue #1, blue #2 lake.

Thanks for the cool info. on my name! And thanks for your nice comment on it!

You have a COOL major! What would you like to do post-graduation? Where do you go to school? I also LOVE to read and write! How do you work 5 jobs and go to school full time?

Yes, my family history definitely sparked an interest in history. Plus, I just think it's interesting and I certainly believe that history repeats itself... unless we choose not to let it.

Do you like to read the New York Times? I love it! www.nytimes.com ....

Take Care! I am impressed at the initiative you took to become more spiritual... ) Definitely follow your heart! The Jewish community and faith are both rich.

We MUST find you some No-Pudge girl! lol Check their website and see if you can find a place that sells it near you: Where to Buy No-Pudge. Don't worry - you can always order it on their website too.

And don't let those weirdo grocery stores try to fool you either! I didn't even know my grocery store sold it (I found it at a different little local store) until one day I was over by the milk and they had it on those shelves up over the refrigerated cases. Yah - that's the first place I'm going to look for a brownie mix! And, I checked later on over with the other brownie mixes, and it wasn't there. Don't let them fool you - fight for your brownies!

Oh good, I didn't notice that you could buy it on the website! If worst comes to worst I'll definitely try that. But I haven't given up on the grocery store yet! It said on the No Pudge website that it was sold in the Nature's Marketplace section of Wegman's, so that's where I tried, but maybe they were misled and it's actually somewhere else in the store. Next time I'm going to ask someone! Don't worry, Mags, I will find those brownies! But I appreciate your concern. Lack of chocolate is truly a terrible thing. Lol.

They have rasperry, too. With this flavor, I thought it would taste could to swirl some homemade preserves in the the batter (with a knife) once it is in the pan.
