I have trouble with certain fruits and vegtables. Someone suggusted to me trying baby food, since it is pured and they make it for babies.

Has anyone ever tried this? My mom recently told me that a Great Aunt of mine, eat baby food most of ther adult life, but she didn't know the reason why.

Thanks, Karen

Yes, a lot of us here have eaten baby food. I usually buy baby food jars of fruit. Others puree their own fruits and vegetables to make them easier to digest.

Thank you. Which fruits do you buy and how do they taste? Also are they okay on your stomach? I have IBS-D.

Thanks, Karen

Hi, Karen! I usually buy Gerber's Peach Cobbler, Mangos, or Papaya. They're easy to digest. I would say I'm IBS-A with a tendency to D, but eating pureed fruit hasn't been a problem. Actually, it's helped give me confidence to try other fruits (fresh mangos, canned fruit, and satsuma tangerines, which don't bother me like oranges do) and fruit smoothies (from the recipe index, but I also like Jamba Juice's Protein Berry Pizazz (dairy free)- pricey, but a nice treat once in a while).

I've never tried the baby food vegetables, but I only have problems with raw veggies. I do okay if vegetables are cooked and chopped.

What is IBS-A? I have only heard of IBS-D and C. I will try those. I can not eat fresh fruits, so this might be a good alternative for me.

Thanks, Karen

Wow - this is so good to hear - I just went down the baby food isle and was self conscious about buying it - I'm going back today to get some! They even had organic kinds. I have to be easier on myself and not think of myself as being so weak - I still think of this IBS as being selfmade! Unfortuantely I have been told this by others who do not understnad. Debbie

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I use to be an IBS-A, but now mostly IBS-D.

I too am self-concious about buying it, but then again, the clerk doesn't know if it is for me or a child. If it helps me to put back fruits in my diet, I'll go that way.

I know what you mean about people not understanding about IBS. I would love to copy phamplets and carry them with me, and when someone says something negative to me, I'll just hand them one to read.
