You might talk to your GP if this has been occuring for some time on a regular basis.

black specs in stool on a regular basis that aren't kiwi seeds stc can indicate GI bleeding, since when blood dries it goes black, this can be very common, but you need to talk to your doc about it asap since it can indicate certain things that are going on.

Hi Lyndeigh!

I hope you're doing well with your IBS. Of course, like mostly all of us here, I also have IBS.

I also have a question:

Did you ever get that problem with the black specs in your stool figured out?

I have also been having this problem from time to time, and it's been worrying me.

Take care of yourself and hope to hear from you soon,

Kristi

Before you panic about that - have you had any pepto bismol or other antacid recently? Pepto is famous for turning stools black - maybe you didn't notice they were black before? I took Pepto for naseau one day and two days later notice my entire stool was black - thought I had cancer. Called my DR and went right in. It was from the Pepto. Think about it. Hope you feel better!

Hey, yeah I do still find black specks on my stools from time to time. I had a colonoscopy to rule out bleeding, and my GI has no explanation from it. The only inkling I got was that I started to notice these black specks after I started a probiotic regimin. It is possible that the black stuff is stuff that the probiotics are helping clean out. Who knows.
