Yeast problems with IBS?

Hi all! I am new to this board and have really learned a lot. I already have Heather's book "Eating for IBS".
My concern....I had extremely high levels of yeast antibodies in my blood (systemic). I finally have it under control with probiotics. As I read the recipes and "safe foods" I see that bread and sugar are recommended. How does someone with IBS and a candida problem balance the diet? My doctor says "NO yeast and NO sugar". It sure limits my options.
What is a girl to do? Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks Dell

Hi, Dell--

My understanding is that yeast problems are not the same as IBS--IBS is a "functional" disorder that affects that large intestine. Are you saying the doc said you had both? That's a tough one. Heather's diet may obviously not be right for you if your problems were/are caused by yeast.

Hi Dell... Well, what you could do is avoid yeast and sugar for say, 2 weeks, then see if it lowers your yeast levels. Candida is a fungal, yeast problem , so I would recommend staying away from it. Keep taking probiotics, and I'll bet you'll see a positive difference in as little as 2 weeks. Just my opinion, cause it worked for me.
Take care. Kim
