Hi everybody,

Can anyone here tolerate avocados? Would be interested to hear about any experiences. I find them too oily and they sit heavily on my stomach and then cause bloating.

Any comments?

Thanks!

Joanna

luckily I can't stand the things, but when I've had them yes they cause me pain and attacks...mainly they're fat content I would imagine...it might be good fats but its still fat. I haven't heard many people post much about avocados actually before...maybe some others have had different experiences???

Really surprising, because of the fat content, but I can literally sit down and eat an entire avocado with no problems whatsoever... maybe the SF content balances it out somehow, I'm not sure.

Like everything else food-wise, a lot of it is trial and error. Some things work for some people, but don't sit so well with others.

I eat about 1/8 - 1/4 avocado with other foods and I'm fine with it.

I really can't give a positive yes or not yet since I'm not stable and it seems like EVERYTHING is a problem . However, I eat avacado regularly and it doesn't seem to make things worse. I do know that even before my IBS was out of control, I ate a whole avacado once (in the form of guacamole) and I had diarrhea. So, I think in moderation it's fine with me, but definitely too much is not a good thing!

I eat them about four or five times a week. The key for me is to keep the quantity low. About 2 or 3 Tablespoons max. at any meal. I use them with turkey sandwiches and burritos/tacos mostly.

My biggest problem is I want way more than I'm allowed!

I can't do like you and eat the whole thing, but a few slices on a sandwich, or some guacamole is always yummy!
