I am vegan and have tried a brand of hemp protein which seems sharp going down, has anyone tried either and can share their tummy reactions to them? I know hemp is better because it is raw and Alive, but maybe that is why it is sharp too?

Yes, I've tried them both. The rice protein powder is usually safe for those who want to try it, however I discontinued using it because it had a funny after taste. No matter what I added it to in a smoothie that odd taste dominated. Be careful with the HEMP protein powder and read the label carefully. Mine is by Nature's Way, called Efa Gold Hemp Protein & Fiber". It is only hemp, however, it is mostly INSOLUBLE fiber, boasting having 11 g. protein and 13 g. fiber per 2 scoop serving - 12 g. of INSOLUBLE fiber, but only 1 g. of SOLUBLE fiber. For those who are IBS-C and need more insoluble fiber (like me), and who are very stable, this may be ok if they either eat a high soluble fiber food with it, or off set all that insoluble fiber by adding something like ACACIA, which is SOLUBLE fiber. I'd only use one scoop of the hemp powder.
It also has a funny dark greenish-brown color which dominates whatever you add it to, and a slight after taste. The ONLY thing I find appealing about it is the cost.
Probably the best choice is an egg white based protein powder like that made by Jay Robb (yes, I know it's not vegan), or if you can tolerate it, a plain soy protein powder, however, I'm not familiar with any of the soy protein powders. Maybe someone else can help you with that one.
Hemp - alive and raw? That's a new one on me. When you have IBS, for some just hearing the word "raw" can bring on an attack .
