Hi,

Has anyone tried soaking whole flax seeds to help with constipation? If so, have you used them after soaking for a few hours, or unsoaked in a glass of water?

Thanks for any feedback!

Hi Gracie,
Yes, I've used ground flax seeds for years, but can't take them at the moment. They are apparantly best taken this way for the oils.

Taking them whole is good for constipation because when in water they swell and become slippery.

I've read that it's best to take a tablespoon a.m and p.m in large glass of water ~ unsaked. I find it impossible to take like this and so soak them instead.

I tried soaked flax once. It was alright but I like it ground. I'm not IBS-C so I really can't give you more info.

Hello there,
I been using flax seed in water with about 5 prunes for IBS-C and it helps me with the C but my abdominal pain seems to always be there. What can I do about the pain? I even had to quit my job because of the pain. I need help !!!

Thank you,

Hi,

Maybe the prunes are too much for you? I think they may be a more acidic fruit?

Flax soothes the GI tract but prunes may be an irritant.

Good luck!

Hello there,

I thought about that before, but the prunes together with the flax are helping my C a lot. I don't want the pain, but if I don't stay somewhat "regular", the pain gets worst.
Any ideas??? Are you IBS-C? Thank you so much for the info...Abi

Have you tried the Acacia? Some people on here swear by it. I haven't tried it, but I'd like to soon.

The other night I had about 10 large prunes and the next day I had bad stomach crapms (no bowel movement though ). I read that prunes contain some amount of sorbitol which can cause bloating and cramps for people with IBS.
Anyone had the same experience?
