I recently bought a water filter and want to increase my water intake. I saw that 64oz is the recommended amount. Is it safe to drink that amount in one sitting (like maybe in an hour?) I have a hard time drinking 8oz and an hour for 8 hours. Will be a lot easier to drink a large quantity and get it done in one sitting.

Dude...64oz. in one hour will make you CRAZY BLOATED & uncomfortable (maybe not actually bloated, but you'll be feeling it for sure).
Just sip water constantly throughout the day. Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. It's nowhere near as overwhelming to do this over the course of a day, as opposed to in one sitting. Seriously...drinking all at one time would be murder for anyone. Even those that drink TONS of water!
I'm not a drinker at all - so I'm not at the 64oz./day goal yet, but I've dramatically increased my liquid intake by doing this "gradual" method. I've tried to do 64oz. of liquid in one sitting - it was for one of the diagnostic tests. It was murder, and I peed non-stop for quite a while.
Drink water gradually...save yourself the trauma.

P.S. - tea & other healthy (natural - no soda!) liquids count towards the 64oz/day recommedation. If you get bored with water-only.

I agree. I have a 32oz Nalgene bottle that I fill once in the morning and once in the afternoon. It's no problem at all to drink two bottles of it.

Hi Soytoy, Unless you can pee like a race horse, drinking 64oz of water in one hour is not a good idea. Taking in that much fluid will drive up your blood pressure excessively. And if you have high blood pressure, you could be in real trouble. I have HBP and I did that and had a stroke last November. -Bob

Listen to Bob, not a good thing to do! I am not a heavy drinker so I had to get use to this. I buy those 16oz water bottles and keep one with me all the time. Only 4 of those gives you the right amount. If that is too costly just buy a 6 pack and refill them (being sure to sanitize them) from your sink. We have bad water so I have to buy water. Be sure to count all your teas and whatever else you drink. a typical coffee cup is 10oz or more. Honestly, I try to not think about how much I'm drinking and it always seem to work out to plenty for the day.

I carry around a 1L bottle of water and periodically fill it up during the day. I end up drinking 2 or 3 of them a day, but I'm a heavy drinker when it comes to water. I would suggest perhaps buying some medium-sized bottles like Arrowhead 1L, drink it, save it, and use it as your primary water bottle. This is a much cheaper and easier option.

OK - you're listening to a germ-phobe here, so keep that in mind as you read...
The single-use water bottles (that you find at the grocery store) are not designed for multiple use. I read about bacterial growth among other issues ( but it also seems like everything lately could do you in, so take this with a grain of salt!).
A Nalgene bottle costs $5-7 at any outdoor store. This or any good-quality plastic water bottle that you can wash out after each use seems safer to me.
There's my two cents!

I read the article too about not reusing plastic bottles. Just forgot about it because I buy water by the case. Since we can have really touchy tummies don't do anything to cause more problems. A sport bottle is a great idea.
