I suffer teribly from a feeling of trapped gas every day. Don't feel bad when i get up but after I eat breakfast and have had my daily BM I get a gas building up that lasts all morning and starts to disipate in the afternoon, although always leaving me feeling like i need to pass wind! Have tried Colofac, Colpermin, Pepperpint tea, fennel tea and have cut out caffine, alcohol, wheat, dairy.

Really dont know what to try next, have had this every day for four months and its ruining my confidence, self esteem and social activities. I don't have any pain really just a constant discomfort that seems to be associated with wind.

Is IBS the only answer to what this is because thats what my doctor insists.

Am I going to feel like this every day for the rest of my life because that's what it feels like.

Please give me something to hold on to...

What things do you eat on a daily basis?? Sometimes certain foods can cause that bloated, gassiness for some people.

Have you tried BeanO? Take 1 or 2 before a meal. It may work for you.

You are eating a lot of soluble fiber...which is usually a good thing for IBS. But, it can also cause bloating and gas for some people, especially if you're eating a lot of it or you've just recently increased your intake. Bananas and apples in particular can be gassy, so maybe those are contributing.

Introducing acacia and probiotic new

As previously stated, I don't suffer with D or C just general 'fullness', gas and discomfort (no real cramps or pain either!).

Have just started using acacia and have a few questions:

Is it likely to help with these symptoms?
How quickly should I increase the dosage?
When should I stop increasing it?
How quickly should it start to work?

Also, I have a probiotic but have not started taking that yet (don't want to take too many new things at once!). When would people recommend introducing it?

I would recommend you begin slowly with your probiotic. It can sometimes cause gas and bloating in the beginning.

Is this true in general...or just for certain people? What if the apple is cooked? Or peeled?

I've never heard this before.

Go by the directions on the acacia package. You should feel the effect with each dose increase. I took it very slowly and waited two to three weeks between increases, but probably could have increased weekly with no problems. The acacia helps tremendously with me! Plenty of water is a must! The directions on the package and the site are exact, so you will be safe following that.

Heh heh-- I second that! I have just begun introducing SF and a probiotic into my diet, in the futile hope they'll make my persistent IBS bloating problem go away.

So far, after 1 week on the probiotic, I am more bloated than ever. And even right after waking up in the morning, when my stomach used to be the tiniest bit more normal-looking. I can only assume that's because I take the probiotic at bedtime.

Anyway, I'm hoping it will subside soon. Only with the first dose did I have any gas. Does anybody know how long it takes for your body to get used to a probiotic?
