IBS-D
Mine came on big time when I was around 19 (3 years ago now) after a period of a few months that included: - a lot of stress (good stress mostly, but still lots of stress/changes) - a round of antibiotics (which I'd never had before in my life) - going on the pill (not really sure if this was related or not)
But looking back I'm pretty certain I've had it my whole life to a lesser degree. The antibiotics and stress probably just triggered it into hyper-mode

IBS-C all my life but the pain and agony started when I was in the hospital having a tummy tuck/hernia done.

I am IBS C mostly... with bouts of alternating. In retrospect, I think I had digestive probs all my life... but things started to slowly deteriorate when I was 15 after being diagnosed with a hiatal hernia & gastroenteritis. From there things slowly went downhill.

I would venture to guess that mine started out of stress, but I'm not really sure. I think I've had it a lot longer than I've been 'diagnosed' with it. The last 5-6 years I've felt pretty crappy, but I started eating a lot differently...drinking more soda, etc.
I also would say I'm IBS-C.

I've had IBS-C since infancy...with me I believe it's always been a functional/motility problem. I also have fibromyalgia, and from what I know, the two are very closely connected. I still suffer from time to time, but basically my coping with this is second nature.
