Can anyone speak from their own experience as to how long it takes to stabilize? I am on Day 9 - and I am still waiting to "stabilize" - also - how do you know?
Thanks! Janelle

To each their own...
For me this last time I got flared up, it took about 3 months to get settled back down.

I've heard people say they've stabilized within a few weeks to a couple of years. For me, the D seemed to resolve within the first month or so, but the pain took more than four months. You should see significant improvement once you take out the main trigger foods, but then you may have to figure out your own particular sensitivities (stress, HFCS, weather, etc.). For me, stable means not having to worry about severe attacks or dealing with abdominal cramps all the time and to have regular BMs. Also, if I do have an attack, it only lasts that one day or morning and I'm able to bounce back much more quickly.
HTH!

Depends. For one person, it may take a week, another, a year. Depends on the person and the circumstances.

For me, I know I'm stable if I don't have any painful attacks. BUT, if I eat a trigger food, I know I'll have one. So for me, I'm stable as long as I stay away from the trigger foods. If I've been great, and decided to go and eat a steak, then I pretty much can be guaranteed a bad IBS attack.
