I've been having a great time using the Rice brand dairy alternatives by Galaxy Nutritional foods. They have everything from cheeses in different forms to butter to sour cream, cream cheese, and even grated parmesean-like topping. I prefer these products to soy alternatives for a couple reasons. 1) I think I'm sensitive to soy sometimes, 2) They're usually lower in fat, and 3) the flavor of rice is much milder than that of soy, and doesn't gross you out if you taste it full on. I'd reccommend giving them a try if you've had any qualms with soy dairy alternatives, or if you're looking for dairy alternatives in general.

Yep I had the grated cheese and it was pretty good. Do they make yogurt? I'm still trying to find a yogurt that doesn't taste awful.. Thanks, Kat

What store did you find the cheese in?

It was either at Rainbow Foods, or Natural Health Food Store (that's actually the name of the store, not very original). Kat

Thanks. I'll check my local health food stores for it. I was thinking maybe the larger food chain stores would carry it since some are moving towards organic and health food stuff.

I have found some products at my local Vons (Safeway, Pavillions), but there's a much better serlection at my local health food store (Clark's). You might try requesting it from a health-conscious store near you.

Shaws carries a wonderful variety of organic and "health" food. Our store has a wonderful section that has much of the items you find in the HFS.....I really have to complement Shaws for taking the step to provide this selection!
