Has anyone with IBS-C tried Dannon's new Activia Yogurt? It supposedly has good biotics and will help regulate you. I don't know if that is the probiotic that does that or fiber content?

Let me know if you have tried it and if it has helped you in addition to your routine of fiber supplements, Zelnorm, and tea.

Thanks.

Julie

I am IBS-C and tried it, and it did NOT agree with my stomach!! I got pretty bloated with pains. However, you may have a different reaction than me...

My understanding is that even though it is "marketed" and promoted to help those with C and GI problems, it is still dairy. Heather's diet does not agree that Dairy is okay for anyone with IBS. It is a trigger and therefore, is never safe...even if taken with SF.

I think if you're willing to suffer the consequences of it not working, anything is worth a try. I'd give it a shot on a weekend or something. If you react to it the way most IBS patients react to dairy -- bloating, cramps, pain -- then stop. If it works for you, stick with it. I think Heather's diet is great and is practically perfect for me, but I also think we all need to be willing to try pretty much anything out there in order to feel better. The idea isn't to be loyal to a guru, but to get well. So I'd say give it a shot and see what happens.

As far as I understand, there is no fibre in the yogurt.

and that doesn't work with IBS. And I think it's just a marketing ploy. Like eat yogurt and lose weight. Or telling someone they need a med and not saying what they need it for. It's all advertising. But, if you try it and it works for you, YEA! Everybody's different and you never know until you try.
