Hey Guys...I haven't had any candy or gum in months because of fear it may cause an attack due to the artificial flavors and such...(many of them contain SORBITAL which I know causes me problems) any suggestions on any CANDY or GUM that we can have that might be safe for our IBS???

I hear that chewing gum may cuase gas ,but I also hear, and have read, that chewing gum helps digestion....

Any thoughts or ideas??

Thanks!! =o)

Candied ginger is awesome! Ginger snaps are also good. Plain sugar cookies are easy on the tummy (I make my own), and baked fruit is always a treat.

Peppermint candies~ I buy them in bulk at my grocery store. I absolutely love them and they are excellent for calming my tummy when I have school. Good luck!

I can't go anywhere without my altoids! No artificial sweetners in the original curiously strong mint! I had to really get used to the no gum thing! I tried to find some gum I could chew (even knowing about the gas) but they put art. sweetners in all gum these days! Altoids brand also makes a ginger mint/candy in a tin.

I eat sweetened dried fruit in place of candy. Only sweetened with sugar. No artificial sweeteners.

I believe Swedish Fish are safe - I eat them all the time and they don't bother me.

Banana chips and dried mango are my favorites. I also love the Trader Joe's fruit leather. They have a bunch of different flavors. Very tasty.
