I've used both and can't tell the difference. Just make sure they have the same ingredients as Immodium. I also prefer the anti-gas Immodium and not sure if the generics have that or not.

I just buy the no name brand, it is soooo much cheaper. If you have a Sam's Club or something similar to you they sell it in huge boxes too. I also buy no name gas-x, Simethicone caps.

Same here, I only use the generics. The ingredients are the same and the Wal-Mart brand comes in a larger quantity for good price.

MANY generic brands contain LACTOSE, so I go for BRAND NAME Immodium.

Be careful with generic brands & read labels CAREFULLY.

I have always, always and I mean for years used the Equate no name loperamide caplets. I honestly don't recall ever buying Immodium brand. I just looked at the box after reading your post and it says lactose monohydrate. All these years I assumed I was only taking straight loperamide!!
This is a toughy because I cannot afford the name brand right now

Bethany, I'VE USED THOSE SAME ONES & I know exactly how you feel.

I really do recommend name brand only. Lactose anything is a really bad thing for an IBS-D attack.

apparantly a few years back there was a big campaign to get immodium to STOP using lactose in its products... seems pretty obvious to me since it's for D but duh... anyway, i gues most of the no-name brands didn't follow along

happened to me too though - immodium is so expensive, so i bought some generic brand one day... ugh, found out that one the hard way...
