Hi..
As a new member of this IBS-society, I am working hard to get in to a "safe-food-rythm". The concept of avoiding trigger foods seems to be a quite promising way out of my agony with sudden D-attacks after meals.
But I do find it hard to grasp the fact that I some days apparantly can eat (and drink)almost everything without problems, but then, as soon as I wake up the next morning, can find find my self in af very bad condition. Can any one tell me if the reactions in the gastrocolic systems really can be delayed that much? How would that be possible?

Trigger foods and GI irritants don't always affect you immediately. Most foods that are triggers for me (whole wheat, alcohol, dairy) act like sandpaper - I have to eat them over a period of a few days for them to affect me.

Yes, my attacks usually always happen the next morning or sometime during the night.

I agree. This just happened to me the other day. I made some pasta sauce and it was a little high in fat. I had a glass of wine with my pasta as well. The next morning at work I had quite a belly ache.

While certain foods definitely give me a D attack within what seems like a few minutes, there are some things that affect me the next morning. I think it may have something to do with what else I have still lingering in my system. It's like it has a cumulative affect on my gut.
