this is just something i was always wondering since i discovered i had IBS and i was wondering if other ppl are the same way ...or if maybe it's something completely seperate.. anyways since i was little i always have noticed i have not had the ability to burp.. even after having my brothers try to show me how with swallowing air.. hahaha
i have always found this to be very odd.. my boyfriend thinks it's funny and did not believe me at first when i told him.. once in a blue moon i do have a little burp come here and there but it comes without any notice.

I can out do my boyfriend on average!! He thinks it's funny, but I've been trying not to burp like that, especially in public, but, like you said, sometimes it just comes up out of the blue!! I think it's normal for us IBSer's.

I don't think it has much to do with IBS, I am not a burber either. Some people actually learn this, like you were trying with your brother. Some of this also has to do with foods.

I notice a lot of normal people and even some with IBS that drink sodas burb more. But its probably more an individual thing.

Do you have upper gi symptoms like heartburn?

Hi Tistenleigh, No burping, eh...hmm, that is very unusual.
Can you expel stomach gas? Is it simply that it doesn't make
any audible noise(i.e. burp like sound)? I have a hiatal
hernia, and I pretty much can't puke, but I do burp a lot,too
much so at times. Nice pic by the way, the background reminds
me of our area here. Has it been very cold there lately? I
hope not, because it's probably coming this way.<laugh>.

"on a rare occasion i get heartburn"

Just checking because there is another condition a high percentage of IBSers have also called functional dyspepsia.

I rarely burp - like maybe once a year? It's a sad little ladylike thing when it happens, too.

On the other hand, I fart like a pro!

Hi AC, Yeah, I don't think you even burped once at the last
get together. Are you on a current burpless string right now?
Geez, I think my longest burpless string was maybe an hour<lau
gh>. Oddly enough, students get a kick out of it when I burp
in class, the louder the better, especially when I say,"Ah
good one".
Speaking of get togethers, it's three weeks from tomorr
ow. As you've probably seen, I bumped the ad again. I hope
we get some more attendees. -Bob
