I saw "Straw Dogs" more than 30 years ago, too. I started crying halfway through the movie and couldn't stop. Not sad, just unspeakably violent. Brilliant, but as far as I'm concerned, utterly unwatchable. Shudder.

"Stray Dog" is a Japanese film directed by Akira Kurosawa (who also did "Ran" which is a Japanese version of King Lear; "Throne of Blood" which is a Japanese version of "Macbeth" and probably the best Macbeth movie I've seen; the original "Seven Samurai"; "Rashomon"; and "Yojimbo", the original "Fistful of Dollars"/"Last Man Standing").

"Stray Dog" stars Toshiro Mifune, like a lot of Kurosawa's movies. The plot is that a young Tokyo policeman in the 1940's has his gun stolen. While he searches for it, the gun is used in a murder. Apparently, Kurosawa had great admiration for American film noir - we also saw "High and Low" by him.

"Straw Dogs". Shudder.

KFC sounds awful to me, even without thinking of the possible after effects. Popeye's, on the other hand, does not hurt me (strange but true).

We're going out tonight, too. Thai food! YUM!

Bev, Michiganians/Michiganders have Meijer. Different outfit. Same sort of set-up though, from what I understand. Meijer is like a SuperWalmart...but infinitely more super (not that I'm biased or anything). I actually miss Meijer. We don't have them in my neck of the Illinois woods.

Okay. I'll stop rambling.

that's for sure. I had a friend who had an attack after eating blueberry pancakes with compote on top and messed up her husband's car. He calls them Blueberry commode!

I'm not eating out tonight either, Bob. I haven't been eating much of anything recently, actually. Same for sleeping. I'm tired as all hell and hungry too but I feel so wired and hyper right now. I just feel like being really productive or causing mischief with my friends... like screaming at random people out of my friends' car while she's going 80 mph. Lol.

I hope this passes soon though. I went from 102lbs at the start of the week to 96.5lbs today. And that scares me!

I went to lunch today with my room mate. It has been so long since I have sat in a real restaurant and was waited on. I had a couple of appetizers instead of a full meal. I had four of the biggest coconut shrimp I have ever seen and a stuffed quahog (clam). It has been ages since I have had real seafood. The fish here at "the home" is disgusting. It is supposed to be scrod, but it tastes like breaded cardboard.
I ate real s l o w ... to make it last and be easier on my tummy. So far, so good. Ohhhh, so goood.

Hi Carol, Glad to see you're feeling good these days! Coconut
shrimp, eh...What are they boiled in coconut milk or something
? Never heard of them before. What do you mean by 'the home'?

Hi Lynx, If you haven't been eating much all week, losing 6.5
lbs is not that unusual. What symptoms are preventing you from
eating? Hope you start feeling better! -Bob

Casey, That sounds like something I would be eating at a re-
enactment, except the bread would have weevils in it. It gives
the bread a little crunch to it. Are you not feeling
well these days or just dieting? -Bob

The shrimp was battered and rolled in coconut and (shhhh)...deep fried.
I live at a retirement home. I'm on disability so going out to eat is a big deal considering the Gov't. lets me keep $60 a month and the rest pays the rent. Actually I get $50 a month because THEY made a mistake so I have to have $10 a month taken out till I pay it back.
