willow , will often stopin the middle of a meal and need to rush to the door for a pooh. is this "gastrocolic reflex."?

does anyone find that cold food is worse for them?

wondering if i should warm the food and not give it to her straight from the fridge?

Give Willow my sympathy - I, too, have stopped in the middle of the meal and rushed, well, maybe not to the door, but the idea is the same. Sounds like the gastrocolic reflex to me. And read Heather's book for her story about having to abandon a lobster dinner.

Yes, cold food can bother some people. I do fine with it, but perhaps Willow does not and since she can't actually explain herself, I'd say try room temperature.

This is going to sound really crazy, but have you tried the other standard IBS stuff, like herbal teas and an SFS? You'd have to check with her vet, but an SFS in particular has made a world of difference to me.

HTH. Good luck.

Hi, Nikky. I think the info here would also be very helpful for your dog. So don't worry about asking questions.

I don't know if you've seen these already, but in Heather's newsletters there have been a couple of letters from a couple who have used the EFI diet guidelines for their dog:

Dogs, Diarrhea and IBS

Dog Diarrhea, Dog Constipation

HTH!

Talk about digging up useful information - great articles.

And you had a signature picture up yesterday or the day before. I'm past due for my eye exam and even with my glasses couldn't make it out - what was that?

Lol. You caught me trying out different user images because I was bored. I think there was an Edward Gorey pic
and a Katamari Damacy pic (video game) , but none of me.

That's the one. I checked the Website and no wonder I couldn't figure out what was in the pic!

The game looks kind of interesting - thanks.
