Um, what/how/when do I eat?????????/
I am so frustrated. I get sick and feel gross daily.
I am also lactose & gluten intolerant and a strict vegetarian (but I do eat egg whites). I also take Acacia.

HELP!

Okay, so you've got all the SF and IF veggies, all the GF grains, GF pasta and breads, rice, soy (inc. tofu, TVP, etc), nuts, egg whites (which gives you the full spectrum of GF baking)....

Avoid most fruits (inc. tomatoes) for now until the GERDs is more under control (I assume you are taking meds)...applesauce might be okay but only have it after a bland SF base. Oh and bananas will be fine with GERDs. And avoid alcohol, caffeine (IBS triggers anyway) and cold drinks/icy foods.

Eat little and often and get a good balance of SF, IF and veggie proteins.

If you do a search on the Recipe forum, you'll find lots of gluten free foods (and there are lots of GF recipes anyway like the risottos).

I've read that low residue diets are recommended for delayed gastric emptying.

uw, You got EXCELLENT help from Michelle just two weeks ago. Maybe you missed her post: web page

Michelle's suffered with GERD, IBS, and a hiatal hernia, so she knows what she's talking about. I'd pay heed to her excellent advice.

I had read that but wasn't sure if the delayed gastric emptying changed things or not...

Thanks. I am on Nexium twice a day but it isn't working. I'm working on cutting things down to the simpliest level until my stomach and guts settle down. Here's hoping.

I've read that Nexium (and other PPI's) are not effective medications for Delayed Gastric Emptying. I'm not sure if they are effective for HH. I know that both disorders have manifestations of the same symptions as GERD/Acid reflux.

Re: Low Residue diets.
Briefly, Heather's diet is actually quite low residue compared to the "regular" diet. Basically great care is to be taken with fiber (IF, especially)--dried beans, etc. aren't recommended. Sulphurous veggies & high acid foods are to be avoided. It's basically stuff that you've already been practicing & know. Anything majorly fiberous from the the plant world should be pureed/soupy.

Kate, IBS-D.
