I saw some of this at the grocery store (it is also known as cassava, casava or manioc). I was wondering if anyone has tried it. I did a Google search and it sounds interesting (somewhat like sweet potato). I couldn't find out if it is a IF or SF vegetable. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks Marci! I'll try a little bit and see how it goes. I put it in nutritiondata.com and it looks like it has some good nutrients. I'm always interested in trying new veggies.

I have tried it...I love it...

I Have IBS-D.

It is among one of the things tht i eat whn i have peak IBS.

I remove the skin and cut it into small pieces and put some salt and boil in water for around 20min...till becomes soft..

then in little oil u can saute some onion and some paprika and add the cooked yucca into it and mash it lightly...

tastes good...it helps in stopping Ibs-d.

Other things that I have tried is :

1) Cooked plantain. - Stops IBS-D instantly.
2) Cooked brown rice
3) Grilled fish and baked potatoes.

Hi Nisha,

Thanks so much for the info. I just bought some and I was sitting here thinking - how the heck am I going to cook this thing!

I'll try it tonight for dinner. I think I'll just add some onion powder (McCormicks has a nice blend of onion powder, green onion and parsley) - fresh onions are a trigger for me.

I didn't think of eating plantains - I'll put them on my list!
