I know they have grilled chicken and baked potatoes. What about their salmon? If it's grilled and not cooked in butter that should be OK right? I really want to eat the bloomin onion thing but KNOW I can't! ACK! What a disaster that would be!
Thanks,
Sandy

Do a Search on Outback - it's come up before and seems to be one of the safer restaurants. (I've got a summary document somewhere with what everyone has said was safe there, but I can't find it.) When I ate at Outback, I got the shrimp appetizer as an entree, along with a baked potato with a little olive oil (from the salad bar). I did fine and the food was great! In fact, you're right - the hardest part about eating there is that so much of the food looks so great it's hard to resist.

Happy Birthday and enjoy your meal.

I had the salmon there & was fine. I think I also had a baked potato. They may also have sweet potatoes...or is that another steak joint?

Shannon might be able to answer this one really well if she's around.

When eating out, I always ask if the salmon or chicken is cooked in butter. If so, then I ask that it be cooked in a light amount of oil. Most restaurants are pretty accomodating. For an added ounce of precaution, take some Immodium before you go. And maybe bring some with you just in case you feel funny.

Definitely steer clear of the bloomin' onion!!! Before I knew I had IBS and knew how to eat, I partook in the yumminess of one those. I had an attack before I left the darn restaurant! Luckily I lived down the street! Whew!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

It's a deliciously deep fried, battered onion cut to look like a flower. It comes with a very tasty dairy-based dip.
And it would be very, very, very BAD for us to eat.

Oh, like onion rings, but the whole onion cut like a flower. It sounds so good, but might be painful after eating.

I tell them I'm allergic to dairy and get it with a baked potato... I make sure the potato is plain and they have some in back made with water and not butter to hold the salt on! (they always have that.. ) they grill the chicken without butter then and the bbq sauce seems to work fine for me even though I have issues with HFCS so it must not have much if any in it...

Happy Birthday! Did you know that Outback lists their menu and allergy information on their website? It will tell you what has dairy in it. You can also tell them and they will accomidate you. I believe when we went last year for our anniversary that their veggies have a butter sauce but they can leave it off. I've had grilled shrimp and the salmon. We might go on Friday to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. We may have to take it home though since my parents don't like to watch the girls too late. I don't mind because I hate eating in resturants now.
