Anyone have any experience using Valerian to help you to sleep more deeply?

I'm trying to find out if Valerian is useful to take when I wake up around 4-5 AM and can't fall back asleep. I'm trying to find something that will help me to fall back asleep for another 2 hours or so, but not longer.

BTW, I have no problem falling asleep or staying asleep until 4-5AM but then my sleep becomes really restless, even tho I'm definitely still sleepy. I posted a long msge about my sleep problem yesterday and rec'd only one reply. So, thought I'd try again w/ this one, simpler and specific question. Txs, LL

Hi,
I cannot be of much help for you - only give you my limited experience with valerian. I tried it two times. The first time I was hit hard - but It did not enable me to sleep- (I was just drugged all night!)
The second time I was not hit so hard, but still it did not promote any sleep - just generated a lot of anxiety attacks, and the next day I felt worse than ever. I know everyone is different, though. And It does seem to be highly thought of. But I really would NOT take it in the middle of the night.
