Hi; Does anyone have problems with soy/veggie meats agreeing with them. Does it hurt your stomach like it seems to with me. What meat substitutes have you tried and had success with other than soy/tofu?

Hi Louise
I was a vegetarian for years, so I eat loads of meat-alternatives. I don't find them a problem, but if you are feeling sensitive, I'd try something like plain Quorn. This is really bland (and low-fat) in itself - you add whatever flavour you want.
I've actually just posted on the Recipe Exchange about this. Topic,

Hope this helps!

Oh, sorry! Quorn is vegetarian protein alternative (fake meat!). It's not made from soya like many vege products, but from a kind of microspic mushroom! Quorn is the trade name.

Hi
Can't say for sure, but I seem to recall from another thread that Quorn isn't available in the U.S. Here in the UK it's widely available from supermarkets and health food shops. Also, there's quite a range of products, such as burgers, sausages and even ready meals.
Regarding the soya meats bothering you, do other soya products cause the same problems?
Cheers.
Ian

If you check www.quorn.com, you can choose your country and then they have a store locator.
Unfortunately, I didn't see Canada for Louise.

Hi Ian; I seem to be able to handle soy milk and tofu ok. as far as I can tell. Especially with the tofu.

Hello all,
Just talked to a pilot I was flying with this week and he told me that his dentist last month said that altoids is one of the worst things for your teeth. Like we already don't have enough to worry about. I guess if you swallo w them whole like Heather there're ok. My buddy has eaten them for years and has dental problems; according to his dentist from the altoids. Don't have any proof other than the words from the dentist.

Oh, Skywalker! You're giving me something else to worry about. Ha! Do Altoids have sugar in them? If so, sucking on them, or really any hard candy, I imagine can take the enamel off your teeth. Will have to ask my dentist about this. Was your friend eating the peppermint ones or the cinnamon ones? For me, I just swallow them whole, although I've wondered if that's harming the lining of my stomach.
