No! Not my only symptom. Constipation, chronic bloating (every second of the day), feelings of fullness, feelings of incomplete evacuation, Im not sure how to detect passage of mucus. And not a lot of pain, only when bowels are moving all at once or something.
Anyway, I'm finding it hard to convince doctors to give me tests. They think I'm too young for them. They think I'm just constipated a little, or I'm a hypochondriac.

Jeez.

Some people don't need the colonoscopy - if they've had the same symptoms for years and they're not classic IBD symptoms for example. However, it is a very useful test. And the other tests should be standard!

Mucous you would see on the TP (toilet paper) - it's kinda like clear snot! I used to get the feeling I'd need a BM and then when I "went" all that would come out was mucous, which is common.

Oh. I've had these symptoms for three years! Think I would need the colonoscopy?
Yes. All of the 'doctors' in that clinic are like that. It's a rural clinic. I would love to switch doctors, but I'd have to find another hospital. It's hard to miss classes/work, for appointments like that, isn't it? Frusterating.
I've never paid close attention to the mucus thing. Maybe I have it, I'm not sure. If I didn't have it, would that mean that I don't have IBS for sure?

On the mucous - not at all! IBS symptoms vary alot.

It does sound like IBS, but you do NEED to have to bloodwork and stool tests. A hormone imbalance could cause C for example.

How old are you? Do you live with your parents? Could one of them come with you to the doc? I only got treated to start with as my Dad called the surgery and then came with me to the GP and refused to be fobbed off (I'd just gotten tearful and left before!).

I;d really suggest you buy "IBS: The First Year"...it's explains alot in a way that is very easy to understand.

I'm 16, and live with my parents, yes. My mother is actually going to bring me to another doctor and go in with me. Because I became tearful too, when I came out of the clinic! I felt condemned as a liar.
I am trying to get some tests. I just don't know which ones to start with.

A full blood work-up and health check with physical (to check for gyno problems for example) is the standard "first". Then stool sample tests. Then rectal exam, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy...

Oh okay. Thank you very much for your help!!! One more question. If I get bloodwork done, is there anything specific I must asked to have checked?

Ask what's being checked - it should be a long list! I don't know for sure what...thyroid, deficiencies, white blood cells...
