Mine are too I have sometimes noticed. My doctor and I think that it is from internal hemmroids, which makes some sense because they have to pass through there. I am getting mine taken out in a couple weeks, because I have had alot of bleeding over the past 4 years or so and its my only option. Some people can get them from time to time and not always have them, but mine seem to ALWAYS be with me!!

Skinny stools are common in people with IBS-- I get them too. Sometimes this has to do with contractions or spasms in the colon. Other people have posted about this on the boards-- Thin stools Getting more SF or taking an anti-spasmodic usually helps with this symptom.

If this is a new or sudden change in your IBS symptoms, it's always a good idea to see your doctor.

It's to do with the spasms and the D NOT a blockage.

Oh okay, it can be due to the C blocking the intestines, but even then it's often down to spasms.

Okay that makes sense. I usually get it when Im just started to feel okay, and the bowels move a little. I guess the digested soluble food just gets past the other stuff due to the spasms.
Thanks.

Hi Lucrece, Not only can you get them while C, they are often
the primary cause of C, as in my case. When the colon spasms,
it can narrow down to a half inch or less, and most stools
can't pass through that little hole, if they're soft enough
they can pass, but they will be narrowed down. It also takes
a lot of effort to get a larger stool through a small hole.
You can also tell if you are having spasms. You will feel
a real tightness where it is spasming. -Bob

Anti-spasmodics are constipating so that defeats the purpose, sort of. Is there one type of antispasmodic that is less constipating?

Have you missed the point of this diet? And peppermint is a great anti-spasmodic, as is chamomile.

Cyndy, Yes, The one Sinead from Dublin was taking called
Colofax which is mebeverine hydrochloride. It's available in
the UK, but I think it's a Dutch drug. My GI doc wouldn't go
through the bother of trying to get it. Buscopan, the Canad-
ian drug which is Scopalamine based may also be another one.

Hi Linz, Does peppermint bother your GERD's, my GI doc told
me to lay off peppermint because of that. -Bob

Stick to the Chamomile...and brew the tea strong or it'll do not much.
