I'm contemplating making the switch to Acacia from Citrucel. I am _sick_ of taking that many pills in 1 day! And I need to try something else that'll hopefully help w/ the boat! I know can jump right over to 12 g/day of Acacia so that'd be good.

Questions..

1. How much Acacia do you take/day? How do you take it? 2 grams/time? 1/day?

2. Do you like better than other SFS?

Right now I do Citrucel as follows

4 grams breakfast
2-lunch
2-snack
2-dinner

If there's a link on this topic, lettme know! I realize how individual this is but thought IBS-C experience might be helpful. THANKS!

1. As I have said before I take 1 tablespoon two times a day which is the only way to do it with my work. Not sure how many grams that is.
2. I love acacia and will stick with it as long as possible! I think it works better than other SFS, but any SFS needs to be taken with plenty of liquid. Acacia keeps me stable and was the final ingredient in getting stable. Before acacia I was almost there but things were not quite right.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I take 1 heaping tablespoon (the scoop from my old jar of Citrucel, actually) twice a day. It keeps me feeling stable (non-nauseated, no belly noises) enough so I can get fruits or veggies at every meal. It's the latter that has made me regular, and I couldn't have done it without acacia!

Yup - I use a flat scoop, which is equivalent to a heaping tablespoon.

I may be too late for this, but wanted to say Acacia has changed my life! I have used fibercon, citrucel and benefiber, and acacia makes a greater difference, costs less and is easiest to use of any! I take 2 1/2teaspoons 3 times a day..between 18-20 grams a day! I hope I never have to be without it!

I was taking Metamucil powder and pills and they caused so much bloating and yuck! The acacia is a miracle. Tasteless and dissolves in anything, hot and cold, more pleasant to take, also can take more often because it is not as gagging as the other stuff. It works better in my opinion. I like to put it in hot tea, smoothies, and oatmeal. Also just in a glass of water. It is amazing how the gas and bloating goes away.
