Now that General Mills and several others are trumpeting that their cereals only use the whole grain, does that mean cereals we've considered safe (i.e. Rice chex)are no longer safe?

They are considering the grains that they have ALWAYS made the cereals out of to be "whole." They may be, but don't confuse w/whole wheat. That is NOT what they are using. Still corn, rice, etc.

Are the cereals that contain soy safe? For example, Kashi Go Lean contains 8 gms of fiber. penner@netscape.com

I wondered the same thing! I have eaten Rice Chex with soy milk for breakfast every morning for two years. I started buying the generic brand just in case. Then about a month ago I decided to try the brand name. I mixed it with the generic the first few times just to make sure. I didn't have any problems so I started eating a full bowl. No problems so far.

I can handle it usually, but for people that aren't stable, the Kashi has too much IF in it to digest. The soy shouldn't make a difference either way.

Right. Checking the fiber is always the safest way. Unfortunately, very few companies (Health Valley being a good exception) break that down and list both the soluble and insoluble fiber content seperately.

5g fiber in a cup- but I have no idea the SF/IF amounts.... since cornmeal and corn chex is supposed to be tolerable- do you think the cornbran would be? does anyone here it eat?
