I took my five year old to the dr. today and she had to have her shots for kindergarten. How stressful. I didn't tell her where we were going until we got there and my mom watched my other daughter. Thank God! I had to literally peel her out of her car seat. She screamed in the parking lot and when I carried her into the office. I felt horrible. We went in got checked out and he said she is really healthy, which is great. Then I had to tell her she needed shots. The tears, the pleading, the whimpering. I hate this. My girls hate the dr. as it is; getting the shots just makes it so much worse. And the whole time I was hoping I didn't have to run to the bathroom, and I didn't. Yeah! I have been worrying for days now. Glad it is over. I told her the rest of today is her day and that made it a little easier. The rest of the morning went great. I took them to the library and it was so nice. I actually sat down and read with them. I use to want to leave right away because I need to run to the bathroom. This is how motherhood is suppose to go.

She is falling asleep on the couchright now. My other one has to go to the dr. next. Thank God she doesn't need shots but she is worse at the dr. I usually leave with my shirt covered with her tears and runny nose. The people at the office love it when we leave. I was even able to get a perscription over the phone one time so I didn't have to bring them in. Yuck. Just had to vent.

Heidi - I think I was just like your daughters--only I knew if I put up a big fuss I'd get it when I got home, so I didn't put up a fuss!!!

To this day, I hate shots--needles of any kind. Now, this is funny...we had a dog several years ago and he developed diabetes and I--yes me--used to give him his shots. But it's different because you can;'t see the needle go in the skin because of the fur, so it didn't bother me. Sometimes when I'm at the dentist and I'm getting a shot, because it takes so long, I start to get all hot, dizzy and sweaty. Go figure!
