I have Fibro., etc. etc. Had a colonoscopy which took from the time of booking app. to results 18 weeks - Oh Canada ! Everything was fine. I know the D really came on strong when I was diag. with F. about 8 years ago and usually comes in doses. I have had it for a week now - I am having some stress as a friend is in hospital with 50/50 chance of living but I am trying to stay calm. Dr. put me on decetel and metamucil which I am unsure whether it is helping or not. I do take some pre. meds. and flax seed oil. Any suggestion to straighten me around for a few days would be great. I have had to put a porta potty in my van which unfortunately has had some use. Thanks all Possibly one food I could take for a few days to help.

Have you tried an over-the-counter antidiarrheal, like Imodium? I swear by it when I have my bad D spells. It works *fast*.

Metamucil is the harshest SFS around -not great for D's. Try Acacia or Benefier instead.
And flax is usually used by C's - I'd stop that if I were you!
Immodium is a good idea, as is switching to an extra safe diet whilst you're having a hard time.
And btw, Fibro and IBS flare-ups going hand-in-hand is pretty typical IMHO.

Myself and Retrograde (another poster on here) are both from Ontario, Canada as well. We have both tried Dicetel with no success. Actually it was awful for me, it increased my urgency and frequency of D and my stomach was making noises I had never heard before. That could be the culprit but I would give it a fair chance. My D would come after my third dose around the same time everyday when I was on it. Immodium has been a lifesaver for me. I just buy the no name Loperamide in bigger and cheaper packages. Good Luck, hope you are feeling better soon!

What everybody else said. You can try the Break The Cycle diet for a few days and see if that helps calm your tummy.
I'm so sorry about your friend. Take care.
