HI everyone. I haven't been to the message boards for about a year, but am in need of support. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and was so happy to finally know what was wrong with me. They said it could take 3,6, or even 12 months for me to heal. Anyway, I am about 50% better, but still get terrible days. Therefore, we are pretty sure I still have some IBS symptoms. I elimintated dairy which helped quite a bit. Yesterday, however, I was horrible. I woke up with an uneasy stomach which progressed throughout the day. After years of stomach cramps and pains, I've learned to deal. This time, however, I was burping amd it was tasting terrible--like bile. I then got pains in my side and back and went to the ER. My bloodwork was clear, so after a few IV drugs, I was out of there with the doc telling me "we don't THINK it has anything to do with your gallbladder, but check with your GI doc soon"
HAs anyone here dealt with gallbladder problems? It's so frustrating not knowing everything thats wrong wtih me. I can hardly eat anything now without wheat, rye, malt, barley, oats, and now dairy...so this is fun. I just would love some support from everyon out there that is dealing with the frustrations of stomach issues!
Thanks

I have just been diagnosed with celiac, also. I have only been GF for a few days, but it really is a pain. I live in a retirement home and it is hard when someone else is cooking. I just hope I don't get lactose intolerant too. I haven't noticed any difference in the way I feel yet, too soon.
I have had gallstones for a while and sometimes I get a pain in my back on the right side. They did an ultasound and found I had gall stones, but I didn't have insurance at the time so they are still with me. The last atack I had I was throwing up bile. YUCK! I wanted to die.
Isn't it awful when our systems just seem to rebel against us?

I don't have Coeliac disease but I was on the Coeliac diet for quite a while as I suspected I was gluten intolerant. It really didn't make a difference for me though so I am in the process of adding gluten back in slowly. It is a very frustrating diet. I too get that acidic bile feeling and was sent for an ultrasound to check my gallbladder which was fine. It is possible that like me it is acid reflux, which is awful at times but can be controlled by the right medication. I too have found no relief as yet for my symptoms and can totally sympathise with how awful you are feeling I hope you start to feel better soon.

...even if you are not lactose intolerant. Here's a list of Heather's trigger food which must be eliminated to become stable. Trigger foods It's safe if you only have Celiac Disease, but not if you have IBS too.

Yet, I've read that many Celiacs have problems with dairy in the beginning of their GF eating just because the villi are so damaged. Once the insides heal, some are able to tolerate dairy again unless they test lactose intolerant. But IBS folks are safest staying away from dairy products altogether.

Thanks guys...it is a tuogh diet, but after almost a year, I am used to it. I even eat out every now and then. I'm still wondering if I have gallbladder problems considering I am on Prilosec everyday and should not have any acid... but we'll see. Life would be easier if Doctors were easier to get ahold of!
And yes, I want to add that even though dairy can be handled on a GF diet, most of our stomachs have becomes too sensitive by now and the lactose just rips it up!
