I am having a bad day today, woke up at 3am with severe cramps and took an antispasmodic, that helped. Then this morning I had d and felt really yuck! I have been racking my brain trying to think what I ate to bring on this attack as I haven't had one for so long. I started on Fennel Tea and that seemed to give me more gas, can this happen? I love the taste though! I need some input here.

I'm so sorry you're feeling yucky. I don't know about the fennel tea - but perhaps it was residual gas or perhaps it didn't agree with you. Have you tried ginger or chamomile or peppermint tea? I find ginger and peppermint helpful. If you haven't already, read the section on this website that reviews all the triggers. Sometmes, I have no idea what hit me. Sometimes, I know exactly what hit me. Take care, and if you have more questions, ask!

Trish,
I find the Fennel Tea helpful but as Heather says always listen to your own body.

I agree with Hansolo that sometimes you can't pinpoint a dietary trigger. I know for a fact that an attack can occur without a dietary trigger as this has happened to me and I never never deviate from the diet. I think that when ana attack occurs without a dietary trigger stress must be coming into play. Even if I don't think I'm particularly stressed I take it as a warning that my body obviously is. Then I make an extra effort to destress whether it be an extra relaxing walk, bubble bath, more yoga, time to myself, etc. etc.

I really hope you feel better soon. I know where you're coming from though, some days it really gets you down.

When you are trying to figure out what is causing your attach, don't forget to think about what you drank also. Sounds silly-but this happened to me, couldn't figure what I was doing wrong for 2 weeks, then I looked down at the bottle of ice tea I was drinking and realized all the extra caffine I was drinking!
