Just got home from a birthday party that had overflowing tables of deep down southern cooking. Lots of butter, oils, fried, egg & cheese covered dishes and that's not even going to the dessert table. I ate a safe lunch before I went and took a huge class of fennel tea with me to sip. I yakked with everyone and looked to see what might have been safe to eat but absolutely ZERO....Only the host of the party noticed I wasn't eating and she knows my problem. I told her it was more important to me to be able to visit with everyone and feel great than to have to leave due to my tummy acting up. In the past I've taken my own food but since this was just next door I didn't want to bother. Anyway all went great and I'm happy that I handled it so well.

GOOD FOR YOU!!

That is one of the hardest parts of having IBS... the dreaded food functions. Sounds like you handeled it really well and yes, it is definitely better to have fun with your friends, than to be forced to leave the party with a stomach ache.

Oh, yeah, all that fabulous Southern food. Sigh. I'm super-impressed you handled it so well. You had fun and you feel good - what could be better?
