Anyone famous in the world who has come out of the IBS closet? I recall hearing that Kelsey Cramer (main character in the FRASIER TV show) has a wife who is vocal about her IBS problems. Cybal Shepherd? Jerry Falwell?(Just kidding on that one).

I remember when I was a kid and saw ENCOUNTERS OF THE FOURTH KIND, and they were on top of the mountain and the alien ship descended, one of the technicians rushed into a portable potty. I thought "IBS man!" Of course, that was just a character. There was also a famous rocker a few years ago who stopped his tour because of serious abdomenal digestive problems, but never heard any details. We need a spokes person to bring everyone out of the closet. Someone like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, George Clooney. REAL men have IBS...I can see a public service announcement saying "Together we will find a cure!" Can an international telethon be far behind? They've been trying to fruitlessly help those poor kids with muscular dystrophy for decades. Maybe we need something similar with some shallow figure head like Paris Hilton as spokesperson to the glitter set. If I was an evil magician I would give IBS to George Bush. Within days, 60 billion dollars would be allocated to find a cure.

I don't know... I think that would make you a pretty darn GOOD magician. Heh.

Cybill Shepard definitely has IBS, and she's pretty vocal about the whole thing - isn't she a spokesperson for Zelnorm or something like that? I've heard that Tyra Banks does, but I don't know how true that is. And I haven't heard any famous men come out of the IBS closet yet... but darn it, they should, if statistics are true then there's gotta be at least a couple who have it. C'mon, people! 'Fess up!

Who was the famous rocker? I'm curious about that one.

I heard Jenny McCarthy say that she has IBS in a radio interview. But I think she falls under the category of "starlet" rather than star? She has a new awful sitcom on UPN or WB.

I believe the famous rocker you might be refering to is the guitarist from Pearl Jam. He has Chron's disease and has had difficulty touring, as you an imagine.

Tori Amos (musician) has IBS -- I read somewhere that she has a chef who tours with her to ensure that she eats right. Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) has been an advocate for IBS issues/research because her mother has it.

If it's accurate that 1 out of 10 people have IBS, there must be more famous IBS-ers out there!

Watching WINNIE THE POOH with my little niece, it struck me that Piglet must have IBS! Check it out - the sense of urgency, the fear of being far from home, the worry....I think he keeps one of Pooh's empty honey pots around for emergencies. Of course, Eyeore also has an IBS depressed personality.

I seem to remember that years ago Cher talked about having bouts of "colitis" before going on stage.

Personally, I would not wish IBS on anyone. Maybe all those stars that have it might kick in 10 percent of their box office earnings and donate it to research. Hollywood folks and Rockers don't part with the cash too easy though. Mostly they just show their faces and leave when it comes to charity.

Linda Carter has a website about IBS based on her mother's problems with it. I briefly read it on the net last year but don't remember what I read.

She's talked about it on Stern a few times. It gave me an overwhelming feeling of normalcy to hear that. I don't get to feel "normal" often, other than here.

I know Nikki Zierling kept her name after she got divorced. I always hated the name "Stamos" anyway!!
