I have a recipe that calls for whole dates? Are they safe?

So they can be eaten safely in the same way you'd eat any other insoluble-fiber food.

...But I always thought dates were along the lines of figs.
So maybe with LOTS of SF, they're ok.

Although, as an IBS-D myself, I don't touch figs, and would probably do the same with dates. My mom always ate dates when she was C, so that's where I'm getting all this.

I put them in oatmeal and cookies. They are pretty much like raisins. Good luck finding whole ones! All I can ever get are the chopped, sugared ones. Figs too BTW. I cannot ever get them in MN.
Another thought: If I had to guess I would say dates have the least IF of the dried fruit. They just about disappear in sticky toffee pudding.

Hi Little Minnie,
I live in the Twin Cities, and I have always bought figs at Byerlys. They are in the fruit section, and they come in little round plastic containers. I LOVE figs!! I dont know if you live in the metro area, but I bet outlying Byerlys carry them also.
