this question is for those who have been pregnant once ibs has entered your life. i am wondering if pregnancy, like your period, causes symptoms to flair up? as many of you have stated the week before my period is when the worst of my symtoms happen, and i know hormons play a huge part in this---and i am a little nervous about what baby hormons are going to do. in addition my symptoms seem to go hand and hand with fatigue, which i know other experience this also. what are your experiences with this?

There's some of us on this board who have discussed it earlier - check some of the older pages. I have an 18 month old son, and I am 3 months pregnant now. I am managing pregnancy and IBS OK. The fatigue in the first trimester was gruelling, but I like everybody else survived. Yes, I had added nausea (worse than regular IBS) but I found some strategies that helped. Mostly sticking to Heather's diet, lots of tea, eating smaller more frequent "meals" helped a lot. Also, I had to be very careful for what I ate - no treats. But, the good news is, when in my second trimester with Liam, my IBS almost completely disappeared (I'm IBS-D). The baby pushes on your system and compresses it and slows it all down - which means hallelujah for IBS-D's. It can mean more trouble for IBS-C though. Not that I've experienced that. If you have more specific questions, ask away. And look up the old posts.
