I know Zelnorm has been discussed a lot on this board...but would you all mind one more question? I am wondering who and how many people are still taking this drug after being on it for more than 3 months or so? How long have you been on it? And does it still work for you?

I've been taking this drug for about 5 or more months and I'm not sure if it's even doing anything. But I'm afraid to stop for fear of having less BMs than I have now! Yet, I don't want to keep putting this drug into my body if it isn't worth it as I have doubts about the safety of drugs in general. I don't mind taking them for any relief they may provide...but not if they aren't doing anything.

So, Can I have a show of hands of how long people have taken this drug, and who is still taking it, finds it still helpful, and for how long has this been?

Thanks for any insight.

I have been taking it for almost 6 months and it is still working for me. I love it.

Maybe you need to talk to your doctor about this and see what he/she has to say. Are you taking it twice a day or once a day? I only take it once a day as I don't need it twice a day. Do you take any other fiber with it? I take Citracel every day and I know that also helps.

If you need anything else please do not hesitate to ask.

I have been on Zelnorm since December, but I also take other things-milk of magnesia, acacia, potassium and I am on Heather's diet though I modified it for me. Hardly any insoluable fiber unless pureed/cooked to mush, no dairy, no fat (to speak of), only soluable fiber generally, and snack often. I too am afraid to stop anyhting for fear the C will come back. I am trying to work up my nerve to lessen something but I go on vacation soon and don't want to have any trouble. I am interested to see what others say. My dr. said long term use was okay but if I noticed any changes I could go off of it and then start up again.

I've been taking Zelnorm just "as needed" for a few months. It generally makes me have a normal bm later the same day or the next day (depending on what time of day I take it).
