Lately, my IBS-C has caused some pain on the right side of my abdomen. What's over there to cause that? I mean, I understand that the left side is where the colon comes down (and I've had discomfort there many times before), but I don't understand the right side pain.
During the night I felt mild pain on my right side, and then this afternoon (after feeling bloated & uncomfortable all morning) I went into a cramp attack.

It could be trapped gas. I had some *intense* right-side pain (middle to lower abdomen, towards the back) a few days ago, and I was absolutely sure that something had to be seriously wrong... but sure enough, after a few hours of agony, the pain shifted, then it passed, and it was just gas.
Maybe it could also be intestinal cramping? I know I used to get cramping all over my abdomen, from my stomach down, not just where the colon is.

my pains are regularly on the right side, usually right where the gall bladder sits. Doctor's assure me it's not my gallbladder but 9 times out of 10 that's where my pain starts, hurts all the way through to my back.

Your intestines fill your tummy pretty much! There's ALOT of them, which is why we can get pain all over our tums.

I get that often as well. It is actually what prompted me to find out what was wrong a few years back. I always find that it is C or gas, like Casey said. I use a hot bath or a heating pad to relieve and it helps.

When I'm "cramping" it usually covers my whole abdomen. I just thought it was strange that I was having isolated pain on the right. I've actually had it so bad that I thought it was my appendics (but it wasn't).
Glad to know others have this, too. Atleast my "abnormalness" is "normal."

the next time you see your doctor, you might ask her about possible gall bladder problems, since your gall bladder is on your right side. Although I have to say that when I had gall bladder problems, my whole abdomen hurt.

It could be just trapped gas. When I feel that way I take a Phazyme and surely enough it usually passes. But, if it is persistent and severe it could be appendix, gallbladder or liver problems. I would have the doc check it out.

but I had what I thought was a lactose(or now IBS ) attack, and it turned out the pain for the previous month was an appendix! If it gets really bad, get checked out. A toxic appendix that blows can do serious damage.
