Nausea and hunger?

I have posted about this before, but maybe different people will reply this time.
I know that I am not getting enough calories in per day, but I get pretty bloated if I try to eat too much (meaning too much for me right now) because my stomach has shrunk from not eating enough. I'm to the point where it's difficult to tell if I'm even hungry or not, but I get nauseous, and I think that may mean I'm hungry. Has anyone experienced this? Also the tummy gurgling. Does it mean I am hungry or that I have an upset tummy?
I wish there was a GI doc I could go to who knew everything about the digestive track and would just talk to me for hours and hours about it!

When I get too hungry, my tummy gurgles. When I get really too hungry, I feel nauseous.

Hi Tinkerbelle,
I hope the nausea passes soon! That is the worst feeling! Try drinking some ginger tea and even having a few crackers/rice cakes just to calm your belly. A nice broth would also be calming. You are probably a bit hungry, so try out a "snack" and see if you feel better after putting something into your system.

This happens to me, too, when I go too long without eating. It took me a while to realize I wasn't sick or about to have an attack, but that it was hunger. I know when you feel bad all the time it's hard to differentiate what's causing what feeling--especially when you have the anxiety problems thrown in! I don't know how your meals & snacks are planned out during the day, but do you make sure to eat something every two hours? That way, you don't get the nausea from an empty belly and you're not eating too much at one time.

Usually, I feel the grumbling and hunger pain in my stomach, not the lower abdomen/intestines. (If the pain and grumbles are coming from the intestines, that's when I go "uh-oh" and take 1/2-1 Immodium as a preventative.) I feel almost immediately better when I eat something.

I feel this, alot, Tinkerbelle. My stomach has shrunk and I get full really fast and I detest feeling bloated. I divide my meals and stop when feeling full and just eat more later. Also, being too empty or too hungry makes me feel MORE NAUSEOUS. Sometimes certain smells make me feel nauseous. Sand is right about being too hungry and feeling nauseous--I'm the same way. Are you taking any medications which could make you feel nauseous? This is also a factor with me.

IMHO the nausea and gurgling are just from not enough food...that's what I get (followed by cramps) if I don't eat enough.

hi again
yah i feel like that alot. i get hunger pains that take over my whole middle section--from between my ribs to my lower abs. they creep up out of nowhere but the pain is such a serge that eating is just not an option at the time b/c ill get sick and dizzy. but if i put it off i get sick and dizzy still. sometimes i forget about it but if im moving around, its hard too.

if youre unsure if youre hungry or not, when you feel grumbles or possible hunger, just say to yourself am i really hungry now for food in my stomach? saying it aloud [or in your head!] really puts it into perspective whether or not you want to invite more bloating. sometimes one can get caught up in the idea of eating, especially triggers and things that would not agree. not saying you should put off eating since your posts have said you wish to eat more, but if you get bloated right after eating, pushing more in will only increase the bloating and backup the food causing more pains im sorry that youre having to endure such unbareable and frustating pains. but that question does help! i ask myself that b/c sometimes i dont stop when i feel full. i guess sometimes i make up for the food i didnt eat by allowing myself to indulge too much. but youre right, some tummies are too teeny and just cant handle it! my worst is when i try to eat vegan pizza, b/c its so yummy and i love it that i try 2 pieces, but always end up shoving down 4-5 more mini-pieces. HTH
