I have been taking Miralax for a while and I havent found a really good drink to mix it in. I thought soft drinks might work but they only seem to foam up and I get an after taste. Wondering what everyone used to mix it up?!

Hi,

I mix it in crystal light lemonade or the raspberry drink. I get no clumping or after taste. Good luck. It works like a charm.

I mix it in straight water & let it dissolve completely. Or I combine half water/ half cranberry juice. But I think the Miralax is taste-less.

I do the half water/half cranberry juice thing, too, on days I don't work out (and thus don't have a protein shake). On the days I do work out, I dump it in the blender with my soymilk and protein powder.

Just out of curiosity, how much do you all take daily? I've been doing 17g one day and then 34g the next and then repeating and it's been working pretty well.

It's my understanding that kids can use Miralax too. I don't know your age, but your doctor would recommend the appropriate dose.

The Miralax draws water into your intestines, which makes your stools softer & moves them along better. The Miralax is not absorbed by your body, which is why my doctor really likes it.

This is not a harsh medication. For example, I take Miralax every day, but I don't have a bm everyday.

I take 17 g (one capfull) every day. I don't have a bm everyday, though. I'm thinking I'll try taking a second dose tonight to see what happens . I may switch to your alternating schedule of taking one or two doses a day.

I've never tried putting the Miralax in a smoothy. Hmmm. I might try that, too!

Im 17. And thanks. I will try and ask a doctor about it. Im getting my driver's licence very soon, so I'm hoping to visit the hospital about all of this. I personally don't want my parents to have anything to do with my IBS, because they don't understand it. Im hoping that a visit to the hospital will not require parental guidence ...Do you think?

You could try half water/half cranberry juice. That's worked really well for me.

I put it in minutemaid lite or crysal lite lemonade. It mixes well and when it's ice cold it is delicious.

Miralax is routinely prescribed for kids as well as adults.

Good Luck.
